Summary
This project consisted of the complete conservation, restoration, refurbishment, upgrading and change of use of a significantly dilapidated 18th Century, four-storey listed mill building, ancillary buildings and modern office building
key issues
The site, being in a busy urban center, required detailed pedestrian and traffic management plans to ensure safety
Significant demolition works, including major new structural opes
Total internal fit-out of four-storey mill building, two-storey ancillary mill building and Ground and First floors of an adjoining contemporary office building
Construction of new two-storey link building and creation of new first floor connection to adjoining contemporary office building
Civil works included new drainage network and re-landscaping to 2 no. courtyard areas
Installation of major Mechanical and Electrical package, including 2 no. passanger lifts, security and alarm systems, CCTV system, new boiler house and air-conditioning
The project was handed over for occupation by the client (The Department of Social Protection) on a phased basis, requiring detailed planning to ensure normal office activities were not negatively affected during completion of the project
